Good Morning Sunshine!

I think that God is in the process of teaching me that I can get by on much less sleep that I can imagine. You see, when we moved, we also moved Kylie from her crib into her big girl bed. For no reason other than we thought it would be easier to not put her crib back together again. Let's just say I would put the crib back together 1000 times over looking back! Kylie has always been an amazing sleeper and we had a reputation going for that, and I mean she would go to bed at 7pm and wake up around 8am. I know we had it lucky and we had a great thing going, but my body has always needed sleep. Well, since the move to the big bed, Kylie has decided that she wants to get up before the sun and come wake mommy & daddy around 5:45am every morning. Now, I might be able to handle it if this was even 6:45am, but let's just say that we've been missing a lot of sleep around here. She must have a seriously overworked internal time clock because when she's up, she's up!

My gracious husband is almost always the one to jump out of bed and take Kylie in to watch the WonderPets or Care Bears or Toy Story and let mom sleep until he goes to work or I wake up (normally the latter!) Well, on one lovely pre-dawn morning this week when daddy was on shift, Kylie decided to awake even earlier, at 5:15am despite missing her nap the previous day. That morning, she absolutely did need her beauty rest and her internal clock needed some new batteries :) She also decided that she would start waking us up completely naked, diaper and all. This was also one of these such mornings! Finally, after many tears and fighting not to go back to bed, I awoke again at 7:15 to come into her room and find this:

Kylie fast asleep, completely naked (picture has been censored :) ) on her Dora sleeping bag in her closet!!! I couldn't help but love her more at that moment than any other 5:45am moments! Honey, this is one that will definitely be shown in the wedding montage!

Target 75% Off Sales

Yippee! I'm super excited about my trip to target today! I heard that they were having their annual 75% off post-Christmas sale and boy did I hear correctly! Last year, I stocked up on all our gifts for the year at this sale, and I was able to do the same thing again this year! I just finished adding up my receipt and I got more than $758 worth of merchandise, and with the 75% discount, I only paid $175 for all of it!!! I attached a picture below (excluding the wagon which I have to go back tomorrow and pick up because it wouldn't fit in my car) and my tally included the following:

Step 2 wagon (Yahoo!!! This alone is listed for $99 on Target's website)
3 Care bears
2 digital trivial pursuit games
blow up kids mattress
10 person Coleman tent
little tikes soccer ball pit
flower princess play tent
mr potato head
preemie cabbage patch kid
kids barbie camera
art desk
kids digital art studio
new towels & bath mats for Kylie's new bathroom
and more!!!

There was clearance sections thruout the entire store, so if you have a few minutes to go wander the aisles for yourself, you might find some great deals too! Because of this sale, I'm set for gifts for this year and they are amazing! It is so gratifying to be a good steward of the financial resources the Lord has entrusted to me and I'm so thankful that I've learned how to make our money go so far. It's my passion to teach this information my readers and I am so excited for you to become successful yourselves! Please leave a comment and ask a question and/or tell me your great success stories!

Then, I quickly ran into CVS to pick up my free Dove Beauty bars and then to Walgreens to pick up my free Hershey's candy bars (most of the other free stuff I had to get rainchecks for.) You can see the original posts here and here.

$25 Prescription Coupon from Walgreens

If you fill prescriptions, these are a great way to save a little money on your groceries each month. Use this link for a $25 Walgreen's coupon with a transferred prescription. In my experience, most grocery stores will ad-match these too.

Also, in today's Safeway circular in Phoenix, there is a $30 clip-out coupon for a new or transferred prescription!

Restaurant.com 70% Off Sale

For those of you that aren't familiar with Restaurant.com, they are a website that offers gift certificates to restaurants around the country at a discount. Most are $10 off or $25 off. Many of the certificates are more like coupons and have several stipulations associated with them, for example minimum $35 purchase, minimum 2 drink purchase, etc, so be sure to read the fine print!

They often run great sales and now is one of those times with 70% off! It's a great way to try new restaurants at a fraction of the price. Last night, my hubby and I went to dinner using one of these and had a wonderful dinner for about 20% of what it would have cost! And the food was amazing! It was Sam's Cafe in Phoenix, AZ.

Go here and enter the code SUPER at checkout for the additional discount. Make sure you confirm the correct price after entering the code and remember to read the fine print!

Free Animal from Build A Bear

If you sign up for Build-a-Bear's e-newsletter, in a few weeks you should receive an email that includes a coupon for a FREE animal (up to a $12.00 value). I just signed up so I haven't received anything yet, but Kylie has a gift certificate to use her so this coupon will make it go that much further! I'm told they also send out coupons around each holiday for additional FREE animals or discounts. Be aware, the parent must sign up with their birthdate as they won't allow anyone under 13 years to register. Scroll down to the bottom right corner of the home page for the newsletter sign up.

McDonald's 12 FREE coupons for $1

The McDonald’s coupon booklets are back just in time for Valentine’s Day. For just $1 get 12 coupons. From what I’ve read, these are for 3 free hamburgers, 3 free small cones, 3 free apple dippers or small fries, and 3 free apple juices or milk jugs. I'm going to try to pick at least one of these booklets up this weekend! These make great Valentine's gifts, especially if you have friends to send gifts to in other states! In the past, these have typically been good for about 2 months after they are available and I've heard that they are pretty strict about only using 1 coupon per visit.

Just to clarify, you pick these up at your local McDonald's :)

Having just moved, I feel like I'm in a nesting stage all over again and this will make my house & office feel so much more organized!

My Big Girl

I post these pictures only for the reason that this girl of mine is just too darn cute and this is my blog to show her off to the world!!! The weather has been absolutely amazing the past week so we've spent almost every day outdoors at our neighborhood park. They just put sun covers over the play equipment so we can be there for hours and be protected from the sun (thinking of you mom!). Here are a few snapshots from our past few days of fun!

But how do I get out there?

She actually looked at the camera and smiled!

I can't see you so you can't see me!

Just remember this cute face next time I disobey you mom!

$5 off $25 coupon at Petco

Use this printable Petco coupon to get $5 off any in-store purchase of $25 or more! This was perfect timing for us as we just got Buster groomed! Check out how cute his picture is below! Expires Feb 15, 2009.

Our first baby, Buster!

Walgreens: Orajel moneymaker

In last Sunday's paper, there was a coupon for $1/1 Orajel and an $8 rebate to go along with it.

At Walgreens, they have an easysaver catalog that offers several items for free each month when you submit your receipts via mail or online. For the month of January, the Orajel Cold Sore Brush or the 8-Pack of Patches are free after rebate. Purchase 1 of these items at Walgreens for $8.49 and use the $1/1 coupon. Then submit your receipt online on the Walgreens website to get this refund back either by check, or on a Walgreens gift card. (When you get to the website, click on the box that says EasySaver catalog in the middle of the page and register.) If you choose the gift card option, they give you an additional 10% back onto the card. You'll make $1 (minus tax) after the instant coupon and EasySaver rebate from Walgreens.

Then, send in the receipt along with the rebate form that was in Sunday's paper with the $1 coupon and you'll make another $8 minus the stamp!

Hoorray Free Photo Book - Offer Extended

Updated 1/21
If you weren't able to take advantage of the free photo album offer from Hoorray.com, they've extended the date to do this until 1/25. That means you still have a few days left to download all your Christmas pictures in time to make your free album! Use the code bzzalbum and just pay $7.95 shipping. I completed mine and it took about 2 hours to load all my pictures and lay them out. This program doesn't have as many options as Shutterfly or Snapfish, which made it a bit faster. I hope the quality is just as great though!

Free Cottonelle Toilet Paper

In yesterday's posting, I made reference to the free Cottonelle toilet paper at Fry's when it goes on sale for $0.99. It looks like this is on sale again this week, so now is the time to run to the store to stockpile it!

Right now, you can click here and here to get the coupon. You can print it twice per computer per link. That could add up to alot of free toilet paper! Be aware, sometime I have issues with my computer printing internet coupons. You can check out here for some ideas to help resolve those printing issues!

Tonight's Fry's shopping trip

Someone recently asked me what my favorite grocery store was and I didn't have to think twice before answering...Fry's. There are many reasons why this is my grocer of choice and I am so grateful that one was recently built by our "new old house" that we just moved back into!

One of the first reasons I love Fry's is their pharmacy. One of the benefits of having a chronic illness and having frequent prescriptions is that I'm almost always able to make money when I have to fill a prescription. Here's why - there are many coupons for $25 for a new or transferred prescriptions from CVS, Walgreens, Safeway, etc. Fry's will honor their competitor's coupons, so rather than truly having to switch my scripts every month, they honor the coupon. Check with your pharmacy as every manager is different. With insurance, most of my scripts cost around $10. So, I pay $10 for my prescription and they load my Fry's VIP card with a $25 credit for keeping my business there. Gotta love that!

The other reason is Fry's is an everyday low cost operator meaning that they keep most of their prices fairly low all of the time. Other grocery stores have more expensive everyday prices for most of their items and offer awesome sales on a few items to hopefully draw people to do all their shopping there and spend more at the end. This strategy works for the uninformed, but consider yourselves all informed now :) I used to do all my grocery shopping at wal-mart but I found that I always caught myself wandering into the clothing dept or the baby dept, and I always left the store with a cart full of things that weren't on my list and that broke my budget. Plus, Wal-mart doesn't double coupons and I use coupons so frequently that often times I get things for free. Prime example, last week, Cottonelle toilet paper was on sale at Fry's for $0.99. There is a coupon available for $0.50 off. After Fry's doubles my coupon up to $1.00, they've actually paid me a penny to take a 4 pack of toilet paper. So, I stock up on these coupons and tonight I came home with 7 4-packs of toilet paper for free!

To give you an idea of my savings, the original cost of what I bought tonight was $171. I used my VIP card which gave me a savings of $67. Then I used manufacturer's coupons (what come in the sunday paper) worth $25 and Fry's double coupon policy saved me an additional $9. My total savings was $102 and my final bill out the door was $69, for a savings of 59%!!! It would have been $44 but I forgot my prescription coupon at home so I'll simply use that $25 credit on my next shopping trip. See how it all adds up? This is how our family is able to keep our pantry fully stocked with all the goodies and treats for approx $150 to $200 a month total! I'll give you more tips as we go but hopefully this has convinced you of the value of couponing!

Free Hallmark cards at CVS

This week, CVS has their Hallmark and American Greeting cards buy 3 get 3 ECB. Most of the stores carry both $0.89 and $0.99 cards, so if you buy 3 of these, you get the cards for free after ECBs. And the limit is 5 so you can purcahse up to 15 greeting cards for absolutely free. There are some really cute Valentines Day cards and I found a few birthday and thank you cards too. You can read more details here at moneysavingmom.com.

Old Navy Additional 50% off Clearance Sale!!!

This is one of my favorite sales of the year and it's finally arrived. I went to Old Navy last week and purchased several things for our family from the sale rack. Most of the things rang up around $4.99 or so. Since their sale started yesterday, I took my receipt for those purchases back to the store and they did a price adjustment for all the items that were now an additional 50% off!!! So, not only did I get some great things for Kylie for next year, I saved myself an additional $20! I love old navy for kids clothing and we've done well estimating future sizes for Kylie. Hopefully she won't go changing too fast on us this year :) Go check it out for yourself and let me know how well you do!

Walgreen's & CVS Deals for this week!

Check out Moneysavingmom.com for this week's deals at CVS here and Walgreens here. There are several things that you can get for free to start your own stockpile. Over the past year, I've been able to accumulate close to 100 bottles of hair care, body wash, toothpaste, etc for FREE due to my smart deal shopping at places like CVS & Walgreens. Personally, I'm a snob when it comes to body care products and we only use Arbonne products. So, with all this free stuff, I've been able to donate a huge amount to my bible study's neighborhood shelter as well as make money selling it at a garage sale.

FYI - Peanut Butter Cracker Recall

I thought I would let everyone know that I just came across this article from Kellogg's outlining a recall on several of their peanut butter crackers, including some that we keep in our diaper bag for easy snacks. We purchased the Austin toasty crackers with Peanut Butter which are included in the recall. You can call Kellogg's for reimbursement at 1-877-869-5633.

Wildlife World Zoo trip

On Monday, Eric surprised the family and took us on an outing to the Wildlife World Zoo. I have lived here for 20+ years and have heard of this zoo a few times, but never gave it a second look. Now, I can't stop talking about the wonderful experience we had! This place is amazing and I don't think I'll be able to go back to the Phx Zoo without comparing it to this place. It's located about 5 miles west of the 101 and Northern. It only took us about 30 minutes to get there, which is the same time it would have taken to get to the Phz zoo! They just completed an amazing addition of 3 beautiful aquariums, so the price has gone up to $25 per person, but children under 3 are free and kids up to 12 years are cheaper. Also you can find $3 off coupons in the smartsource magazine. We had the chance to go to SeaWorld last year and I can honestly say that aside from the shows & Shamu, the exhibits and aquarium experience at the Wildlife Zoo were so much better! A few of the wonderful things: the animals were never less than just a few feet from you, the layout and terrain of the zoo is flat and very stroller friendly, and it was not crowded at all. A few highlights of our trip: Eric got to feed the giraffe out of his hand, Becca & Kylie felt the stingrays in their pool, we all had birds eating out of our hands during the bird feed, and lastly, we'll keep it G-rated but we saw the turtles practice their procreating skills. :)

Here are just a few of our pictures from our great adventure!
