Please pardon my absence...

Remember a few weeks ago when my husband had strep throat? Well, this was my lucky weekend because on Saturday morning I came down with a hard case of Strep Throat myself. Luckily, I went to the CVS Minute Clinic just a block away (and picked up my $100 coupon book at my visit.) However, because of my Crohn's Disease, they couldn't see me due to my compromised immune system.

Lucky for me, there was a family practice open on Saturday just down the street and they even take my insurance. When it was all said and done, I had filled 2 new prescriptions at CVS, earned two $25 CVS gift cards for filling my new scripts there, and had a wonderful hubby that took care of me and our daughter all weekend long.

I'm so blessed, even when I have strep throat :)

The Great Pumpkin Festival at Desert Botanical Gardens

Are you looking for something fun to do outside this weekend? This morning my mom took my daughter and I to the Great Pumpkin Festival at the Desert Botanical Gardens and had a wonderful time! We arrived at 9am so it was not too hot (don't forget sunscreen, hats, & sunglasses!)

Admission tickets to the gardens are $15 for adults and $5 for kids 3-13, and include free entry to the pumpkin patch & activities. If you have the Entertainment book, there is a 2 for 1 coupon you can use.

The activities include a hay ride, carnival games, petting zoo, pumpkin patch & decorating tables, hay maze, and more. It was a great time and a perfect place to take cute fall pictures! I love this time of the year!

30 Day Giving Challenge

Take a look in your pantry in the next few days. Do you have extra boxes of cereal, extra toothbrushes, extra bottles of juice? I have plenty and I can say without question that I have never involuntarily been hungry, too hot or cold, or questioned where I would sleep. I was so convicted when I read Alyssa's post about the 30 Day Giving Challenge that she is starting. I am absolutely going to participate and I hope that you choose to do the same!

Check out her post here to read details and be encouraged to watch how the Lord works in our lives every day! What a great idea Alyssa and thanks for allowing us to participate in this with you.

Will you participate?

A Visit from family

In the past month, we've had several out of town family come visit and it's been such a blessing to catch up. Eric's brother and sister-in-law came to visit from Seattle. Christmas was the last time we had seen them and they could hardly believe how big Kylie was. She loved playing with them and they had fun chasing her around too! We look forward to when Kylie has cousins to play with!

We love you Darren & Cynthia and look forward to seeing you at the holidays!

A Good Reminder...

...To stop and smell the flowers.

Life is too short and the Lord cares for us so deeply!

Another season of ballet for Kylie

Since the weather is still too hot to be outside for most of the day, I once again enrolled Kylie in ballet lessons thru the Phoenix Parks & Rec program. We've participated in several of these classes and I've since met one of my new dear friends and fellow bloggers, Rachael (a.k.a The Good Deal Gal).

Kylie and her daughter have become the best of friends and we're even doing a home-school preschool together once a week. Let me correct myself - Rachael has been doing the preschool program and I just sit and watch with the 3 year olds. She is amazing at the activities she comes up with and Kylie is learning so much!

Back to ballet again! This is the 4th ballet class that Kylie has taken with Ms. Suzie and every session I wonder if I should do it again. Honestly I started it because I thought my daughter would look adorable in those little tutus and there is no doubt about that! (In face, my friend actually makes the most adorable tutus and you can check out her website Juju's Tutus.) The problem is every session I find myself frustrated that Kylie doesn't get it. That's when I have to remind myself that she is only 3 years old and that none of the kids get it right - this class is supposed to be fun for her! And then I have so much more fun watching her be a cute 3 year old in a tutu!

This parenting thing continues to stretch me more and more as the days go on, but it is the greatest job on earth and I would never change it for the world. I'm so blessed to have this wonderful child that the Lord has given us and I pray that more children will be in our family in the near future with our adoption!

Hey CVS fans, there's an easy new way to earn a few additional ExtraCare Bucks. Next time you head to CVS, be on the lookout for the cute little bag tag pictured above.

Purchase one for $0.99 and attach it to your reusable shopping bag. Each time you shop at CVS, have the card scanned along with your ExtraCare card, and every 4th shopping trip, an extra $1.00 ECB will print out with your receipt!

From the mouths of babes...

Oh, the simple words of my daughter as she awoke from her nap the other day.

It was finally time to get her reward for pooping on the potty (after 6 months of refusing to do so) and she wanted a Dora doll. As we were discussing what store we might find this doll at, I mentioned the CVS next to the restaurant where would be having dinner (and there is no better store in my opinion!)

My beautiful daughter simply replied "Momma, don't worry about CVS right now. We're not going to talk about that now." Gotta love her!

As it ends up, we did find the Dora, Diego, and Jaguar dolls on the clearance shelf along with a few other things on sale & free. Total cost for everything pictured was $1.75 after ECBs and I paid that with a gift card!

Free loaner tools at Auto Zone

We're in the midst of remodeling our backyard and thankfully I have a husband that is good at everything. He's designed the layout and he's been doing some hard labor getting ready to start the process. We plan to extend the patio, plant new trees, lay some grass (hopefully artificial that looks real!), do some decorative hard-scaping, and more. I'm hoping it will be finished in time for us to enjoy the wonderful Arizona fall! I'm a lucky wife to have such a talented hubby!

Over the years, he has acquired a pretty good selection of tools for all his projects, but there are still some that he doesn't have. I'm not sure what tools they might have for a backyard project, but thanks to Shannon, I now know to send him to Auto Zone for any car tools. They have a free loaner tool program that anyone can take advantage of. Simply leave a deposit at the store when you take the tool and they refund it 100% when you return the tool. You can visit Loan A Tool for more details, but I'm glad I know about this great resource now!

Get $$$ for Electronics

Do you have old electronics, like cell phones and palm pilots, taking up space and collecting dust in a drawer? We've had success selling a few on Craigslist, but here's another option. Walmart has partnered with Gazelle to actually pay you for your old items, depending on condition, age, accessories, etc.

Simply enter your product information and after a few questions, it tells how much you will get for the item. Shipping is free and you can have the item returned for any reason so what do you have to lose!

Free Wall Sticker from Simplistick

There are so many cute and easy ways to decorate these days and some can be very reasonable (and others ridiculously expensive!) I'm a big fan of the wall stickers because I sure don't have the talent to draw or paint something pretty and they are so easy.

Go to Simplistick and you can choose a free wall sticker of your choice. I haven't purchase anything from here yet so I can't vouch for their products, but I'm anxious to see what I get! I'm trying the butterfly for my daughter's playroom!

Thanks Good Deal Gal!
