ZooLights!

Another tradition that we've decided to start is ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo. It runs for the month of December and they put a huge lights display around the zoo so once it gets dark, you can enjoy a different part of the zoo with lighted flying monkeys, lizards on the ground, tree lights set to beautiful music, and on and on. Obviously most of the animals are sleeping, but we did get to see a camel, zebras, and the flamingos. This year, we went with Grandma & Grandpa Holt, Uncle Brian, and our cousins Tim & Jenny, who are visiting from San Diego. (Next year, Tim & Jenny will have her own bundle of joy to share the lights with - yea!) It was a cold night, but we all stayed warm and had a great time walking around and enjoying the lights. As a stil new parent, it amazes me how at times I'll have so much more patience doing activities, like watching christmas lights, with Kylie than I ever would have had patience for before. I guess having a kid really does bring out the kid in you! We rode the carousel after seeing the lights and I think a combination of the late night, the chill in the air, and no afternoon nap, she really didn't want to have much to do with the carousel. She kinda freaked out when it started moving and it was all I could do to keep her on the elephant until the ride finished and came to a complete stop. I guess we'll have to try the carousel another time :)
