I love the internet, but hate that it's made personal information so readily available to anyone. It's unfortunate that identity theft is so common and we have to be paranoid about our security.
I was recently made aware of a website called
spokeo.com. It's a new online phone book with personal info including pics you've posted on Facebook or the web, your credit score, home value, photos of your home, income, age, and more. Even as I write this, I still can't believe all this is public knowledge!
If you would like to remove yourself from this website, here is what you do:
Go to spokeo.com
Search for your name and once you have found yourself, click "See It All."
Find the URL at the top of your web page and copy it.
At the very bottom of the page, click on the Privacy button.
Then paste in the URL from your personal page and follow the directions to be removed.
